Four groups, and how to tell which one is yours
Most people arrive knowing what bothers them and not what it is called. That is the normal starting point, and it is why this page is organised by the work rather than by the words people search for.
The fastest way through it is three questions.
Is it how the kitchen looks, or how it works? If the layout is fine and it is the colour, the door style or a finish that has yellowed, nothing structural needs touching — that is painting, refinishing or new doors. If the room fights you when you cook, no finish fixes that.
Are the cabinet boxes sound? Square, dry, firmly fixed, not swollen at the base. If they are, keeping them is the sensible choice rather than a compromise — the boxes are the part nobody sees and usually the part still worth having.
Does anything have to move? A fridge that will not fit its opening, a run that wants reconfiguring, an island where there is currently floor. That is carpentry, and it changes the shape of a project without necessarily making it a gut renovation.

It is what furniture manufacturers and automotive refinishers use, it costs meaningfully more than the water-based paint most cabinet painters work with, and it is the reason we are not the cheapest quote you will get.
The boxes stay wherever they can. Refacing, painting and refinishing all keep your existing cabinet boxes. That is where the saving against a full replacement comes from — labour and disposal as much as materials.
One contract covers the trades we do not hold. Stone, tile, plumbing and electrical are booked and scheduled by us rather than left for you to coordinate. The warranties differ by trade and we set that out in writing rather than letting one contract read as one warranty.

Common questions about choosing a service
- I do not know which of these I need. Where do I start?
- With photographs rather than a decision. Send wide shots of every run of cabinet and tell us what bothers you about the room, and the quote will name the job. Choosing the service is our work, not yours — most people who arrive certain they need one thing turn out to need something smaller.
- What is the difference between refacing, painting and refinishing?
- What happens to your doors. Refacing replaces them with new ones made to your measurements. Painting keeps them and sprays them a new colour. Refinishing takes the old finish off completely and stains the bare timber so the grain still shows. The boxes stay in all three.
- Can I have work from more than one of these groups?
- Yes, and it is common — new doors with a new countertop is the usual pair. Booking them together matters more than people expect, because each stage is measured off the one before it, so doing them in one project means the kitchen is out of use once rather than twice.
- Do you do all of this yourselves?
- The cabinetry and the spray finishing, yes — those are the two trades this company holds. Stone is cut by fabricators we have used for years, tiling goes to a tiler we contract, and plumbing and electrical are licensed trades we book and schedule. One contract covers all of it, which is the difference between hiring a contractor and hiring four.
- Is anything here quoted separately from the main job?
- Hardware, soft-close hinges, millwork, counters and cabinet modifications are each their own line on the quote rather than folded into one figure. That is deliberate — it means you can take a line out instead of negotiating a lump sum downwards.
