Four trades, and where the boundary is

The list above is grouped by trade rather than by what a customer might search for, because the trade is what determines who does the work and what it costs.

Two of the four are genuinely ours. Cabinetmaking — the doors, drawer boxes, panels and millwork made on Barmac Drive. And spray finishing — the booth, the containment, the catalysed 2K that goes on everything.

Almost nobody holds both. Refacing companies buy in doors and cannot spray; painters can spray and cannot build a door. Holding both is the reason this company can offer refacing, painting and refinishing as genuine alternatives rather than selling whichever one it happens to be equipped for.

The third grouping, kitchen remodelling, is not a separate trade — it is what the first two do when they are applied to a whole kitchen at once, plus the coordination around it.

The fourth, countertops, is contracted. Stone is templated, cut and fitted by a fabricator who is named in your quote. We specify it, price it, hold the contract and put it in the right week.

What is not on this list is not something we do. Walls, floors, plumbing, electrical, tiling beyond a splashback, and appliances are other people's trades and we will point you at them rather than subcontracting and marking it up.

How the services fit together on one kitchen

Most kitchens use two or three of these, and the combinations are fairly predictable.

The most common project is refacing plus soft-close hinges plus, often, a few drawer boxes. New fronts go on new hardware as a matter of course, and the boxes come up when the fronts come off and half of them turn out to be stapled particleboard.

The second most common is painting plus a colour consultation. The consultation is free and it is the step that decides whether people are happy with the result, so it happens on nearly every painting job whether or not anyone asked for it.

The third is cabinets plus stone. Refacing or painting with a countertop replacement scheduled inside the same installation week, so the kitchen is out of action once instead of twice. This is where the coordination is worth actual money rather than convenience.

Beyond the kitchen, the pattern is that woodwork gets added to a kitchen job because the containment is already up. A staircase, a set of interior doors or a run of built-ins quoted alongside a kitchen costs noticeably less than the same work as its own visit, and it is worth asking for both numbers.

What a quote actually looks like

Every service on this page is quoted as its own line, and that is deliberate rather than administrative.

A single figure for a kitchen is impossible to interrogate. You cannot tell what the doors cost, what the frames cost, whether the hinges are in there, or what you would save by declining the interiors. It is also the format that makes two quotes impossible to compare, which is frequently the point of it.

An itemised quote lets you take the parts your kitchen needs and leave the rest. People routinely decline interiors, take hinges on some doors and not others, replace three drawer boxes rather than twelve, or defer the stone to next year. All of that is normal and none of it requires a new quote.

The price comes from photographs, inside 24 to 48 hours, and it does not change once work starts. If a visit turns up something that alters the job, that is absorbed rather than added — which is only possible because the number was calculated carefully rather than produced on a doorstep in ten minutes.

There is no charge for the design or colour visit and no deposit taken on the day.

Questions

Choosing between them

I do not know which of these I need.
Almost nobody does, and it is not a failure of research — the cabinet services look alike from outside and produce very different kitchens. Refacing gives you a different door. Painting gives you the same door in a different colour. Refinishing gives you the same door with the timber showing. Send photographs and we will say which.
Can I have more than one?
Usually, and it is normally cheaper than doing them separately. Cabinets and stone in one project means the kitchen shuts once. Woodwork quoted alongside a kitchen costs less than the same woodwork alone, because the containment is already up and the crew is already there.
Do you do full kitchen renovations?
No, and it is worth being plain about it. We hold two trades — cabinetmaking and spray finishing — and we contract stone to a named fabricator. Walls, floors, plumbing and electrical are not ours. A company that says yes to all of it is subcontracting most of it.
Which is cheapest?
Painting, nearly always, because you are buying labour and material rather than cabinetry. That does not make it right — a flawless finish on a door profile you dislike is money spent on the wrong problem. We will say which service fits before quoting the one you asked about.
Can I buy just one small thing?
Yes. Soft-close hinges on four doors, one drawer box, a single front door resprayed. Everything on this page is quoted per item, and there is no minimum. Some of it is much cheaper alongside a larger job, and we will tell you when that applies rather than letting you find out.

Not sure which of these your kitchen wants?

Send wide photographs of every run of cabinet and a written price comes back inside 24 hours, fixed. If the service you asked about is the wrong one for your kitchen, that is the first thing you will hear.
