What to send, and why it is enough
Wide photographs of every run of cabinet in the kitchen. Whole walls in the frame, taken from far enough back that you can see where a run starts and stops.
That single instruction is the one people get wrong most often. The instinct is to photograph a door closely, because the door is what you dislike — and a close-up of one door tells us the profile and nothing else. What a price is calculated from is the count of doors and drawer fronts, the size of the runs, and the days a job will take on site, and all three come from wide shots.
Four or five photographs covers most kitchens. Include the pantry if there is one, the island from more than one side, and any run that turns a corner.
Then two specific extras that save time. A photograph inside the sink base, whether or not you think there is anything wrong in there — water damage under a sink is the most common thing that changes a quote and the only one we cannot see any other way. And, if you are asking about refinishing or staining, a photograph of the back and the edge of one open door, which is how we tell solid timber from veneer.

What comes back, and what happens next
A written price, inside 24 to 48 hours, broken into lines rather than given as one number.
The lines matter. You will see what the doors cost, what the frame spraying costs, what the hardware costs, and what each optional item — interiors, drawer boxes, soft-close hinges, a countertop — would add. That means you can take the parts your kitchen needs and leave the rest, and it means you can compare this quote against another one honestly, which a single figure makes impossible.
The price does not change afterwards. If a visit turns something up that alters the work, that is absorbed rather than added, and the one exception is a carcass that turns out to be structurally gone — in which case you are told before anything is charged.
If you want to proceed, a design visit follows: samples in the real finish, on your own counter, in your own light. There is no charge for it and no deposit is taken on the day, which is possible precisely because the commercial part was settled before anybody arrived.
Then a measure, then about four weeks while the doors are built, then the installation week.
The shop is on Barmac Drive in North York and the phone is answered by somebody who does this work rather than by a call centre. If a quote is genuinely not something we should be doing — a kitchen that needs replacing, a job outside the areas we cover — you will hear that instead of a number, and it will be a shorter conversation than either of us expected.

- Why photographs rather than a visit?
- Because it is faster for you and more accurate for us. A price is calculated from the door and drawer count and the days a job needs, and both are readable from good photographs. A visit is for choosing colour, not for arriving at a number — and a number produced on a doorstep in ten minutes is an estimate rather than a quote.
- What photographs do you need?
- Wide shots of every run of cabinet, with whole walls in the frame. Not close-ups — the most common thing that slows a quote down is a set of detailed shots of one door and nothing showing the room. Include the pantry and the island, and photograph inside the sink base whether or not you think there is a problem there.
- How long does it take?
- Inside 24 hours in most cases and 48 at the outside. It comes as a written price broken into lines rather than a single figure, so you can see what each part costs and decline the parts you do not want.
- Does the price change later?
- No. That is the point of producing it carefully rather than quickly. If a visit turns up something that changes the work, that is our problem rather than an extra line on your invoice.
- What if I am not sure which service I need?
- Say so and send the photographs anyway. Most people are not sure, and the cabinet services look alike from outside. We will tell you which one your kitchen is asking for before quoting the one you enquired about.
- Can we talk in Vietnamese?
- Yes. Both English and Vietnamese are spoken here, and a good part of our work comes through families who would rather have the technical conversation in Vietnamese. Nothing about the quote or the job differs either way.
