How we work in your home.

What gets sprayed where, and what your week looks like.

In our spray booth

  • Every door
  • Every drawer front
  • Loose side panels

The booth controls heat, humidity and dust, so the parts you touch most get the smoothest finish.

In our spray booth: every door, every drawer front, loose side panelsIn our spray booth: every door, every drawer front, loose side panels

In your kitchen

  • The cabinet boxes
  • The face frames
  • Crown and trim we add

These parts stay fixed to your walls, so we spray them in place behind zipper walls and plastic, with HEPA filters and fans running.

In your kitchen: the cabinet boxes, the face frames, crown and trim we addIn your kitchen: the cabinet boxes, the face frames, crown and trim we add
  1. Day 1

    We take the doors off.

We remove every door, drawer front and loose panel and take them to our booth. You pick your colour from real painted chips.

Day 1: We take the doors off.
  2. Weeks 1 and 2

    Your kitchen still works.

You can cook and use everything, just without doors. In the booth we prime, spray two top coats and sand between every coat.

Weeks 1 and 2: Your kitchen still works.
  3. Week 3, day 1

    We seal off the kitchen.

Zipper walls and plastic close it off from the rest of the house. We cover the counters, floor and appliances, and set up HEPA filters and fans.

Week 3, day 1: We seal off the kitchen.
  4. Week 3, days 2 to 5

We spray the boxes in place.

We clean and sand the boxes and frames, then spray the same 2K primer and top coats as the doors. The finish is solvent based, so please stay out of the house on the 2 to 3 spraying days.

  5. Week 3, days 6 and 7

Doors back on, then we walk through it with you.

We hang every door and drawer, fit your handles and adjust each one. Then we clean up and open every cabinet with you. You can use the kitchen that evening.

Week 3, days 6 and 7: Doors back on, then we walk through it with you.

For refacing, your new doors are made to measure first. Your kitchen works as normal for those 4 weeks, then the same five days follow.

Choose your doors and handles.

Questions people ask us.

How much does it cost?
Painting most kitchens costs $3,500 to $9,500. Refacing costs $8,000 to $15,000. Your written price is fixed, and it does not change after you sign.
How long will I be without my kitchen?
Five days. The whole job takes 2.5 to 3 weeks for painting and 4 to 5 weeks for refacing, but your kitchen works for most of that time.
Can I stay in the house?
Yes, for most of the job. On the 2 to 3 days we spray the boxes in your kitchen, please stay somewhere else. The finish is solvent based. The zipper walls keep it out of the rest of the house, but the kitchen is not a place to sit.
What gets sprayed in your booth, and what in my kitchen?
Doors, drawer fronts and loose panels are sprayed in our booth. The boxes and face frames stay on your walls, so we spray them in place behind zipper walls and plastic.
What finish do you use?
A 2K polyurethane primer and top coat. It is a hard, catalysed finish, the same kind used on fine furniture and cars. We always spray it. We never brush or roll cabinets.
What is the warranty?
5 years on the finish and our work for painting and refinishing. On refacing, waterproof MDF doors and drawer fronts carry 15 years, and the boxes carry 5.
How do I choose my colour?
For painting, you pick from real painted chips on the day we take your doors off. For refacing, you pick your door style and colour at the measuring visit.
Can I keep my handles?
Yes. We put your own handles back at no charge. If you choose new ones with a different size, we fill or plug the old holes so they do not show.
Will it look painted?
It looks like a factory finish. We sand between every coat and spray in a booth. On some woods a little grain can still show, and we tell you that up front.
What is the difference between painting, refacing and refinishing?
Painting keeps your doors and sprays them a new colour. Refacing gives you new doors and sprays your boxes to match. Refinishing is for natural wood, where we strip, stain and clear coat it so the grain shows.
