Before
After — espresso thermofoil to Cashmere Grey, refaced and sprayed to match in Markham Village, Markham
After

The doors came in a colour no paint chart sells. Everything that stayed was sprayed to match them.

  • Cashmere Grey thermofoil, shaker
  • Black bar pulls, old holes filled
  • Granite, backsplash and floor kept
  1. The kitchen before work started with PAINT IT written by hand and circled on the end panel of the peninsula

    01

The client wrote it on the panel themselves. New doors were coming, but the peninsula end panel, the gables and the frames were staying — and a new door beside an old panel is worse than leaving both alone. That note is the job in three words.

  2. A Cashmere Grey door sample and a black bar handle laid on the client's own granite counter, the colour label visible on the sample

    02

The sample gets laid on the counter that is staying, not held up in a showroom. Cashmere Grey is a manufactured door finish, so there is no tin of it — matching paint to it is done from the sample, on the kitchen's own granite, in the kitchen's own light.

  3. The first grey shaker door hung on an upper cabinet beside the remaining dark espresso doors, both finishes in one frame

    03

One door hung against the old ones. This is the moment the match is either right or wrong, and it is checked before the rest go up — because the sprayed panels have to sit against these doors for years.
