About Kitchen Made New in Vaughan — Two Trades, One Roof

Refacing companies cannot spray and painters cannot build a door. Almost nobody holds both, and holding both is the reason this company exists.

The gap this company sits in

There are refacing companies and there are painters, and they are separate trades with separate skills. A refacing company measures, orders doors and fits them; it does not own a spray booth and could not use one. A painting company sprays; it could not build you a door to fit an opening that is nine millimetres out of square.

Which leaves a gap that most kitchens fall straight into. The doors want replacing and the boxes want spraying, and those are two trades, so the customer either hires two companies or accepts that one of the two halves is done by somebody who does not really do it.

That is why refaced kitchens so often have new doors on boxes wrapped in self-adhesive veneer — the refacing company had no way to spray them. And it is why painted kitchens so often have a sprayed door hanging beside a brushed frame that nearly matches.

We hold both trades. It is unusual, it took years to build, and it is most of the answer to why the finish looks the way it does.

Twenty-five years, thirteen of them here

The business opened in January 2013. Before that there were twelve years in kitchen renovations, which makes twenty-five in the trade — long enough to have watched a lot of sound cabinetry go into skips because the doors on it had dated.

That is the whole reason the company exists. Boxes built properly have another thirty years in them when the fronts have run out, and replacing the lot is a decision most people make because nobody offered them the alternative.

Since then it has stayed deliberately small. When you call, you get the owner. When you get a quote, that is the price — nothing appears halfway through the job. The people who come to your house are on the payroll, and the average person here has been for more than five years.

Working across the GTA rather than from a showroom

There is no showroom, and the address on the profile is an office rather than a place to visit. Slabs are looked at with the fabricator; door samples come to your kitchen.

That last part is not a convenience, it is a method. Colour chosen from a chip under a shop light is colour chosen against the wrong background — a tone that reads warm in a showroom reads orange under a north-facing window, and the only reliable test is a real sprayed sample held against your own worktops in your own light at the time of day you actually use the room.

So the samples travel. The van covers Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Aurora, King City, Scarborough, Mississauga and Burlington, and the service area is drawn around where it goes rather than around a radius somebody picked on a map.

What we will tell you not to buy

The most useful thing here is probably the list of jobs we turn down.

A kitchen whose boxes have taken water. A kitchen whose layout is the actual complaint, where new fronts change nothing that was bothering anyone. Veneered doors somebody wants stripped and stained, which cannot be done at all. Chipboard carcasses already sagging, where spending on the surface is spending on the wrong layer.

And frequently, the service somebody rang about. People call asking for refacing and book painting; people call asking for painting and are told their doors are solid timber worth uncovering. The three cabinet services look alike from outside and produce different kitchens, and telling you which one your kitchen wants is free and takes one look at a photograph.

It costs us the occasional job. It is also why most of the work arrives by referral.

What backs it

Licensed, insured, and warrantied in writing

Every line here can be checked with somebody other than us, which is the only reason to put it on a page.

Licensed and insured
A registered business carrying the licences required to work in the GTA and professional liability insurance. Ask any contractor for both before they touch your kitchen.
Employees, not subcontractors
The people who quote your kitchen are the people who turn up to do it. Nobody here is booked in for the week and gone the next.
Five years on our own work
The finish and the workmanship, in writing, issued with the quote rather than after you sign. If it fails, we come back.
Fifteen years on waterproof MDF
Three times our own standard term, on the doors and drawer fronts. The 2K finish and the MDF suit each other well enough to make that affordable to offer.
One year on stone
Countertops carry the fabricator's warranty rather than ours, because the stone is cut and fitted by the shop we contract. Said here rather than left in the paperwork.
Thirteen years, same owner
Trading since January 2013, with twenty-five years in the trade behind it. Every quote comes from the owner rather than from a salesperson on commission.
A fixed price, in writing
Ninety-nine percent of quotes are produced from photographs and follow within 24 to 48 hours. The number does not change once anyone is on site.
No trade certificates
We hold no industry certifications and would rather say so. What stands in their place is a hundred kitchens, a warranty you can read before signing, and reviews with names on them.

We couldn't be happier with the recent experience we had with Nick and his team. I originally hired them to paint my mom's kitchen cabinets, but Nick went above and beyond by suggesting a few cost-effective cabinet modifications that made the kitchen much more user-friendly for her. His ideas significantly improved the layout and functionality of the space, and we're so glad we took his advice. My mom is thrilled with the final result! From start to finish, Nick and his team were a pleasure to deal with—professional, friendly, and reliable. They were always punctual, arriving exactly when they said they would, and they completed the project on schedule. They also did an excellent job of keeping the work area clean, making minimal mess and always cleaning up after a day's work was done. Most importantly, the quality of the workmanship was outstanding. The cabinet finish looks flawless, and the attention to detail throughout the project was top-notch. We highly recommend Nick and his team. Their craftsmanship, professionalism, and commitment to customer satisfaction truly sets them apart!

Nick and his crew were professional and very tidy. The whole renovation was done in 4 days, from start to finish. A complete reface including new doors, handles, kick plates, soft close hinges, and the barn door front panel, were installed for a reasonable price. I highly recommend Kitchens Made New to everyone wanting to reface their cabinets for a reasonable price.

What impressed me most was their expert guidance in color selection. They took the time to help me choose the perfect shade that beautifully complements my existing floor and countertop. Their design knowledge made all the difference in creating a cohesive look. Professionalism was evident from day one. The crew arrived punctually for every scheduled appointment, showing respect for my time and home. Their work ethic was exceptional, and the attention to detail truly sets them apart from other services I've used in the past. The quality of workmanship exceeded my expectations. The fit and finish are flawless – my cabinet doors feel smooth as silk, just like brand new! You'd never know they were simply repainted rather than replaced. Kitchen Made New delivered high-end results without the high-end price tag of a full renovation. My kitchen has been completely refreshed and modernized. If you're looking to transform your kitchen without the hassle of a complete remodel, I cannot recommend Kitchen Made New highly enough. They've made my kitchen the highlight of my home again! Super impressed with the work that Nick and his team were able to perform on my kitchen cabinets. It literally was kitchen made new!! I recently bought a home and the cabinets were running on 20+ years. It was worn and out dated. When someone introduced me to KMN, I was really impressed at the work from the pictures. Anna was also super helpful explaining their process and she was so friendly. I signed with them immediately and I’m so glad I did it. Everything went smooth from start to finish and they were able to solve any additional tasks that I asked for. They provide a wide selection cabinets colors, handles and even soft close hinges. You can buy from them or provide it your self and they will install it free of charge. Lovely service! Highly recommend
