Project 56Kitchen remodeler · Cabinet refacing
Meadowvale Village, Mississauga
dated cream doors replaced, boxes sprayed white
Twenty-four doors, every one measured to the sixteenth of an inch before a single one was cut.
- New doors and drawer fronts, boxes sprayed
- Twenty-four doors, measured individually
- New handles in the existing holes

01
The kitchen drawn as twenty-four numbered openings, then every one measured — 18 7/16 by 15 3/4, 21 9/16 by 29 15/16, and so on down the page, with the hinge holes noted at four-inch centres and the kick cut to four lengths. A cabinet opening is never the size the catalogue thinks it is.

02
One door back from the booth with its handle already on, laid on the counter it will live above. The old holes were used rather than filled and re-drilled — the new doors were bored to match the hardware spacing already there, which is a decision made at the measuring stage, not on installation day.

03
New fronts, same boxes, same counters, same backsplash, same floor. The room that came back is the room that was there — it is the doors that were carrying the date, and they are the one part of a kitchen that can be replaced without touching anything else.
