Project 70Cabinet painting · Cabinet refacing
Rosebank, Pickering
refinished throughout to match its own glazed finish, new waterproof MDF under the sink
The colour is the one it already had. Matching it was the whole job.
- Refinished throughout, matched to the existing glazed finish
- New doors, fronts, side panels and kick plate under the sink, waterproof MDF
- Two further panels in standard MDF

01
Look into the corners of the panel rather than at the face. That darker line is glaze — a tinted coat brushed on and wiped back so it stays where a hundred years of use would have put it. It is a technique, not a colour, which is why there is no tin of it and nothing to order.

02
The new pieces, finished and stacked before they went in. These had to arrive already matching cabinetry somebody else built and somebody else glazed, years ago, to no recipe that exists in writing. The match is made by eye or it is not made.

03
The finished kitchen, and the test of it is a negative one — you should not be able to find the new work. Under the sink is where it is, in waterproof board rather than standard, because that is the one cupboard in a kitchen that floods.
