Gorham-College Manor, Newmarket
maple refaced in white MDF, two new boxes built
Sixteen doors, and four of them needed a hinge the other twelve did not.
- New MDF doors, sprayed white
- Two new boxes, fridge and range hood
- Blum soft-close, existing handles kept

01
Every door came off, and this is what came off with them. The replacements are Blum soft-close — sixteen pairs of ordinary 110s, and then a blind hinge, a 270 and a bifold for the three openings that could not take a standard one. A galley this size hides four special cases, and getting them wrong is a door that fouls the one beside it.

02
The doors are new MDF, not the originals resprayed — the old ones were taken away. The handles were not. They came off the maple doors and went onto the new ones, which were drilled to match them, so nothing was bought that did not need buying.

03
Two of these boxes did not exist before. One sits over the fridge and one carries the range hood, both built to the openings around them. The backsplash, the granite and the floor are untouched — the room changed without a tile being lifted.
