Bronte Village sits about 4.5 kilometres south of our shop, straight down Bronte Road to where it meets the lake. Eight to ten minutes, and further in summer once the harbour is busy.
It is the most mixed housing stock we work in. Century cottages a street back from the water, post-war bungalows, and condos finished within the last decade — sometimes on the same block. There is no single answer to what a Bronte Village kitchen needs, which is the honest reason this page does not pretend there is one.
Why the stone goes in last in a Bronte Village kitchen

What decides the sequence is how stone is measured. A slab is templated off the cabinets that are already standing — not from drawings, and not from the counter being taken out. So on any project where the cabinets are also changing, the order is fixed: cabinets first, then the template, then the stone, then the backsplash cut to the counter as it actually sits. Booking it the other way round is what causes most of the problems on this kind of job.

Tile, where a backsplash is involved, goes to a tiler on the same basis. You hold one contract rather than three trades, each of whom needs the other to finish first.
The consequence worth knowing is that the warranties differ. Ours is five years on our own work; the stone carries one year from the fabricator. We set that out in writing rather than letting a single contract be read as a single guarantee.
Kitchens that get a lot of light
Rooms facing the water get more afternoon light than most, and it changes how a finish reads.
That is the practical reason samples come to your kitchen instead of you choosing from a chip under shop lighting. A colour picked in one light and sprayed for another is the most expensive mistake available on a finishing job, because putting it right means stripping back and starting again. Half an hour with real samples on your own doors, seen twice in a day, prevents it.
What the mix of housing means for a quote
There is no typical Bronte Village kitchen, and that changes how we quote rather than whether we will. A cottage a street back from the water and a condo finished in the last decade need opposite things, and the photographs tell us which before anyone commits to anything.
