Cabinet painting around Old Abbey Lane

Old Abbey Lane is a residential street in Oakville, in postal code L6M 1S4. Old Abbey Lane Park is at 1110 Old Abbey Lane. The south end of Old Abbey Trail is in the park, where it meets Glen Abbey Trail. Two branches of the trail come out on the lane, opposite Parkridge Crescent and Maidstone Crescent.

The street is 0.9 km from our Oakville office, and we paint kitchen cabinets across Oakville. You do not need to travel to us. You send photographs for the quote, and our crew comes to your home for the work.

What we do to your cabinets

The doors, drawer fronts and removable panels come off on the first day and are sprayed in a booth. Every coat on your cabinets is sprayed. We do not use a brush or a roller on them.

We clean with a solvent degreaser, because it removes wax and grease that TSP leaves behind. We then sand, spray one coat of tinted primer and spray two coats of 2K polyurethane. 2K is a hard finish that stands up to kitchen cleaners. We tint the primer to match your colour, so a chip later on does not show white.

The boxes and frames are sprayed at your home, behind containment that protects the rest of the house. Cabinet painting comes with our 5-year warranty.

How long it takes

Most cabinet painting projects take about two and a half to three weeks from start to finish.

The doors are away for about two weeks, and your kitchen keeps working the whole time. The crew then spends five days at your home, and you do not have the use of your kitchen during those days. We ask you to stay elsewhere while we spray. When the doors are back on, we walk through every cabinet with you.

Choosing your colour and keeping your hardware

You can choose your colour before we start or on the first day. We bring painted chips and colour cards when we come to take the doors off, so you can look at them in your own kitchen and your own light.

Your handles and knobs stay with you when the doors come off, and you can clean them while the doors are away. We put them back on at the end at no extra charge. New handles, new knobs and soft-close hinges are available as upgrades at an extra cost.

What it costs and how you pay

A typical cabinet painting project is $3,500 to $9,500. The price on your written quote is the final price.

You pay $1,000 when you sign. You pay half of the price, less that $1,000, on the day we take the doors off. You pay the other half when the job is complete. On a $6,000 job, that is $1,000, then $2,000, then $3,000, so half of the price is still unpaid until the work is done.

The kitchen in the photographs

The kitchen at the top of this page is in Glen Abbey, not on Old Abbey Lane. We repainted its espresso cabinets white, and we show it here as an example of our painting work.

When painting is the wrong choice

Painting changes the colour and the surface, and your doors keep the same shape. If you dislike the style of the doors, a new colour will not fix that, and refacing is the better choice. If the doors are swollen or damaged, tell us when you send your photographs. We will tell you which option suits your kitchen before you pay anything.

Kitchen cabinet painting, in full

This page covers the area and the main facts about a painting job. For the full method, read about how we paint kitchen cabinets across Oakville. That page explains why we use a solvent degreaser instead of TSP, how a 2K finish differs from cabinet enamel, what happens to your kitchen while the doors are away, and the questions people ask most before they book. It also sets out when new doors are worth the extra money, so you can compare your options before you send us your photographs.

Questions

Common questions about cabinet painting near Old Abbey Lane

How far is Old Abbey Lane from you?
It is 0.9 km from our Oakville office in a straight line. That address is an office, so there is nothing to visit there. Our crew comes to your home for the work.
Do you need to come to my home to give me a price?
No. Send wide photographs of each run of cabinets and we send a written quote within 24 hours. Most of our quotes are done this way, and the price we quote is the final price.
What does cabinet painting cost?
A typical cabinet painting project is $3,500 to $9,500. The number of doors and drawers and the condition of the current finish decide where your kitchen falls in that range.
Can I use my kitchen while the doors are away?
Yes, for about two weeks. The sink, the counters and the appliances all work as normal. You lose the kitchen for the five days the crew is working on site, and we ask you to stay elsewhere while we spray.
