Pelmo Park-Humberlea, Toronto
dark walnut sprayed one grey tone, three cabinets rebuilt
The corner became drawers. The shelf became a cabinet. The walls did not move.
- Corner cabinets replaced with drawers
- New boxes in solid maple, raised panel to match
- Blum soft-close, new knobs and handles

01
A blind corner and an open shelf, which is what kitchens of this age put where drawers should be. Both were replaced, the small drawers that were on the right of the stove moved to its left, and the layout got better without a wall being touched.

02
The new boxes going in beside the old ones. The doors on them are solid maple with a raised panel, cut to the profile of the doors that were staying — same shape, same species, because a door that matches on paper still has to match on the wall.

03
One colour over all of it, old and new. That is the point of matching the profile before anything is sprayed — paint does not hide a different door, it lights it up, because the eye reads the shadow line long before it reads the colour.
