Project 05Cabinet painting · Cabinet refacing
Merton, Oakville
honey maple sprayed navy below and white above, counters by others
The wine rack, the shelving and the hood cabinet all came back as cupboards.
- Chantilly Lace above, Blue Grotto below
- 48 pulls, brushed brass 128mm
- Maple crown and valance

01
A wine rack, five tiers of it, in the best corner of the kitchen. Built in, so it could not simply be taken out — the run had to be closed up and made to look like it was always that way.

02
A cabinet where the rack was, and nothing at all above the range. Losing the hood cabinet is what makes the wall read as taller, and it is the change nobody notices because there is no longer anything there to notice.

03
The old crown and valance came off entirely. New ones were made in maple, to match the maple already there — not because maple is the best material under paint, but because it is what the doors that stay are made of.

04
Brushed brass, 128mm, against a cool palette. Warm hardware on a blue and white kitchen is a decision a photograph makes for you — nothing about a product code tells you it will work.

05
Blue Grotto below, Chantilly Lace above. The counters and the backsplash are the client's own work — she fitted those herself, and we did everything that opens.
